Alfred Sutton PTA
All parents are eligible to become part of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA) at Alfred Sutton Primary School. There is a small but dedicated group of parents who make up the PTA, meeting 5 or 6 times a year to plan events and ways to support the school. The two main aims of the PTA are to support and build links with the wider school community and to fundraise for the development of the school.
There are 3 main whole school events in the year:
• Christmas Fair
• Summer Fair
• International Fair- held in the Spring Term which celebrates the wonderful cultural diversity within the school as families run stalls representing their home countries, with information, crafts and delicious foods.
Traditionally the PTA has supported discos or similar entertainment events for all year groups at Christmas and at the end of the school year. Ice Cream Fridays in the Summer Term is another popular fundraiser and one off events like cake sales and uniform swaps also help raise money for the school and for other charities. With the funds raised, over the past few years, the PTA has helped support projects in school such as Living Eggs and music workshops, and has donated generous amounts to help purchase books for the library and for the school reading schemes, playground equipment and sports kits for the school.
Events can only happen with the help and support from parents and friends of the school. The PTA always encourages and welcomes new members and would love to strengthen and increase the group who work to give the children exciting opportunities and experiences in school. A message from the PTA chair…..
‘I have been part of the Alfred Sutton PTA for 3 years, initially starting as a volunteer before moving on to Vice Chair and now Chair Person. The PTA provides a welcoming platform for parents, carers, teachers and support staff to get together and look at new and innovative projects for our pupils and ways to raise funds to ensure we are able to financially back big exciting projects. We are a friendly bunch and would love to welcome new members to join in and share new ideas for events throughout the year’.
