We aim to embed a culture of age appropriate self-discipline where pupils thrive emotionally, socially and academically by participating fully and confidently.
Research supports that success in school and life depends on a person’s ability to interact with others in a positive manner; pupils with good mental health are much more likely to behave pro-socially. Therefore, creating a positive culture that promotes mental wellbeing underpins this policy as the best preventative measure for anti-social behaviours.
Our whole school codes of conduct support this culture, encouraging self-discipline and self-regulated pro-social behaviours. Within each class, staff and pupils work together to agree a class charter which highlights everyone’s rights and responsibilities.
The welfare of all pupils is our primary concern. Therefore, anti-social behaviour is viewed as unacceptable. If we did not challenge anti-social behaviour, conscious or sub-conscious, that prevents learning or endangers self or others, we would not be doing right by the pupils.
We therefore look to working in partnership with parents to promote the highest standards of pro-social behaviour within a caring, learning community.
We involve parents at the earliest stage with any concerns over behaviour or learning. Our conduct expectations are in line with those of a careful and reasonable parent. To promote wellbeing, pupils and teachers have a right to work in a clam and orderly learning environment.
Senior staff take overall responsibility to build and sustain a pro-social culture as per intent, implementation and impact below. Everything possible is done to teach pupils the right thing to do and the importance of doing it for its own sake.
