Safeguarding Information

Weduc Websites > Alfred Sutton Primary School > Parents & Children > Safeguarding Information

‘The leadership team has ensured that all safeguarding arrangements are fit for purpose. Leaders and governors have made sure that recruitment procedures are robust and that staff training in child protection is thorough. Staff are dedicated to making sure that pupils are safe. They know how to recognise potential concerns and speak confidently about how to report them.’

(Ofsted, September 2018)

Alfred Sutton Primary School is committed to the welfare and safety of all our children in school. We have strict rules on recruitment of teachers and ensure that all adults that work with us are vetted through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

We believe that pupils have a right to learn in a supportive, caring and safe environment. This includes the right to protection from all types of abuse, where there is a culture of staff vigilance for signs of any pupil in distress and staff are confident about applying safeguarding processes to avert and alleviate any such problems.

The Governing Body and staff firmly believe that safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone is safe from harm – safe from bullying, safe from people who could abuse, safe from discrimination or harassment – and that we all feel safe in our environment. As such, all reasonable measures are taken to guarantee that risks of harm to pupils’ welfare are minimised.

Any concerns about children are passed to our Safeguarding Team (members of staff who are trained as ‘Designated Safeguarding Officers’ in the school) in compliance with the ‘Information sharing’ guidance.
